NUCOMBog

A model of vegetation, carbon, nitrogen and water dynamics in undisturbed open bog ecosystems.

NUtrient Cycling and COMpetition Model for undisturbed open Bog ecosystems in a temperate to sub-boreal climate.

The package simulates the coupled vegetation, carbon, nitrogen and water dynamics of peatlands, where the interaction between plant competition and water table position governs whether the system accumulates or releases carbon — which is what makes bogs disproportionately important to get right in carbon accounting.
