A general engine for spatially explicit eco-evolutionary simulations of biodiversity.
A general, spatially explicit engine for eco-evolutionary simulations. It models species’ abiotic tolerances, biotic interactions, dispersal, speciation and trait evolution across dynamic landscapes, so that biodiversity patterns — species richness, range sizes, phylogenies — emerge from the simulation rather than being imposed on it.
Developed by Oskar Hagen, Loïc Pellissier and colleagues at ETH Zürich, with Florian Hartig among the co-authors, and described in Hagen et al. (2021) in PLoS Biology.
